According to the Department of Justice, a licensed real estate agent and her husband were charged with conspiracy and bank fraud. This included a count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, four counts of actual bank fraud, and a count of aggregated identity theft thrown in for good measure.
Their scheme involved mortgage fraud, among other things. I would hate to be involved as a buyer with them! Clearly they didn't have the RIGHT AGENT!

According to a LA County Press Release, a realtor, who didn't appreciate the fact that he had celebrity clients, nor did he appreciate that these celebrity clients actually trusted him, was arrested, As it turns out, he was stealing from celebrities in Beverly Hills including Usher as well as Adam lambert.
The scheme involved allowing his accomplice to enter properties during open houses and steal items. Then the items would be sold and there would be some commingling of the proceeds between the two. It seems this real estate agent was listening to Shaggy and saying yo, "It wasn't Me" ... but it looks like Usher & Adam were saying ... it was definitely you! I would hate to have that "team" running an open house on my property! Clearly they didn't have the RIGHT AGENT!

According to the Department of Justice, the FBI caught a man impersonating all sorts of people. He would do this by phone and email and somehow convinced multiple homebuyers, a law firm, and a company to wire HIM their money.
If you are ever in the middle of a real estate transaction DO NOT EVER wire funds or follow wire instructions simply because you received an email or text from someone, even if it appears to be your agent. It may be scammers trying to get you to send THEM your money for the down payment or closing costs. You should double and triple-check with your agent, attorney, or other professional ideally in person. If you need to confirm via phone, make a call to a verified and trusted phone number (do not ever confirm using a number in an email or otherwise provided to you) in order to verbally confirm the actual instructions for wiring money. These scammers are convincing, their emails look legitimate, they can even make calls to that your caller i.d. thinks it's your agent or representative.
It's a scary world out there, and people want your money! This type of real estate wire fraud is becoming all too common!
Be careful who your trust with your money. I would hate to lose my down payment on a house! Wouldn't you? Clearly they didn't have the RIGHT AGENT!
